4 Minute Money

Make Money With The Right Blog Name

Make Money With The Right Blog Name
money making blog nameIn my experiments with money making blogs I have found that it helps greatly if …

(i) you choose a blog name that is relevant to the niche / subject matter of the blog and

(ii) that the blog title contains some of your keywords.

I believe that by following these two steps it’s possible to get decent positions on Google search pages.

If we take Mike’s Money Making Mission as an example the following keywords give the blog a useful position:

Mikes Money Making Mission - 1st on Google (probably this would be expected!)
Mikes Money Making - 1st in Google
Mikes Money - 1st on Google
Money Making Mission - 1st on Google
Making Mission - 3rd on Google
Mikes Mission - 15th on Google

Now some readers will say something like …

“Okay, but will people search those keywords?”

or

“What about the keywords: Money Making?”

My answers to this: Firstly people do search those words.

Secondly, with the keywords Money Making, there are over 38+ million search results. With all of the big boys about I wouldn’t really expect to be number one, or even on the first couple of pages but …

this emphasises the need for long tail keywords.

For example, with these long tail keywords:

money making chain letters - MMMM is 2nd on Google
chain letters money making - MMMM is 1st on Google
money making zlio - MMMM is 1st on Google
money making blog - MMMM is 1st on Google

Plus there are lots of other examples which I won’t bother to list.

All I’m trying to illustrate is the value of:

(1) Keywords in a blog’s title and also
(2) Long tail keywords which also contain the title
keyword(s).

If we also take my Celebrity Insider blog. Search the keywords Celebrity Insider on Google or Yahoo and it’s top of the pile.

That’s it! Think blog names and long tail keywords.

Good luck,
Mike

Top Seven Most Read Money Making Posts
make money with keywordsAnother month. This year seems to be flying past. These are the Top Seven Most Read Money Making Posts for August for Mike’s Money Making Mission. The Chain Letter post is on top again even though it was published way back in March 2007.

It’s often said by the ‘experts’ that Content Is King when blogging and this is true - but only to a certain degree.

As far as getting search engine referrals is concerned then Keywords Are King. Especially if they are contained within the title of a blog’s post and then again in the main body.

A search engine doesn’t care how well a post is written. What it is looking for are words relative to the search and in the right positions - without spamming of course.

If you look at the titles of the most read MMMM posts it illustrates the point. They are the most read because the keywords are in the post titles. The chain letter post isn’t particularly good but it attracts search engine referrals regardless.

How To Make Money With Satellite Blogs
horses for courses makes moneyIn the past I have suggested having what I call Satellite Blogs circulating around your Main Blog.

These satellite blogs may not necessarily be updated regularly, or all have massive traffic, but what they do is help to make more money.

As an example I have two what I categorise as my Main Blogs. These are this one i.e. Mike’s Money Making Mission and also a celebrity blog Celebrity Insider - Photos & News. Plus I have several other Mini Main Blogs.

If we look at the Celebrity Insider blog I have half a dozen Satellite Blogs on similar subject matter. I was looking at the hits for these this morning. Here are the traffic figures for yesterday:

Helen Flanagan - 371 visitors yesterday
In Praise Of Konnie Huq - 302
CelebTease.com - 2250 (adults only)
I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here - 34
Insider Hot News Videos - 32

These five blogs, as you can see, have varying rates of success but the total visitors to them yesterday was virtually 3000 - and this is without including Celebrity Insider itself. In reality therefore I have doubled my traffic.

So that’s an additional 3000 visitors to make me money. With CelebTease.com I get someone else to update this for me. With the others I add something now and again when there is something applicable. This isn’t really a lot of extra work.

I tried to do a quick count up also this morning and I’ve got about 60 blogs in total now up and running. I say that but most simply look after themselves. As far as traffic goes some do well and some don’t. It’s been a case of trial and error.

But the message is: if the average blog made me just $10 per week ($1.42 per day) that’s $600 a week in total - over $2500 per month.

With each ’set’ of my Main Blogs and Satellite Blogs I link them together. If that helps or not I’m not sure but it’s what I mostly do.

As regard content of the blogs: it’s that thing I’m often banging on about. Give people what they want - not what you think they should want. That’s why I started the adult orientated celebrity blog Celeb.Tease.com. Whether this is to my own personal taste or not is immaterial. The fact is, however, that it is what a lot of people do want, so I arrange to provide this for them - and in doing so it makes me money!

I previously covered suggestions about how to go about getting content for several blogs here.

I’m not suggesting that you set up dozens of blogs to the detriment of your Main Blog. But a few satellites on allied subjects, over a period of time, could well increase your income. It’s what I’ve found anyway.

I also understand, however, the thinking behind bloggers who concentrate on just one blog to the exclusion of anything else. It’s horses for courses.

Good luck, whichever course you choose.

Mike.
